SubSearch PiP ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that searches for and displays subtitles synced to videos playing in your browser, with Picture-in-Picture support.

Data We Collect

• Extension Settings: Your preferences (font size, colors, position, offset) are stored locally in Chrome sync storage (chrome.storage.sync).
• Subtitle Cache: Downloaded subtitles are cached locally in Chrome local storage (chrome.storage.local) for performance. Cached data expires after 30 days.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect, store, or transmit personal information such as your name, email, browsing history, or IP address.
• We do not track your usage analytics.
• We do not use cookies or tracking technologies.

Third-Party Services

The Extension communicates with the SubDL API (via a proxy at https://subdl-proxy-vercel.vercel.app/api) to search and download subtitles. When you search for subtitles, your search query (movie/show title, language, season/episode) is sent to this API. Please review SubDL's privacy policy at subdl.com.

Permissions Used

• storage: To save your extension settings locally.
• activeTab and scripting: To detect videos and inject subtitle overlays on the current page.
• webNavigation: To find video elements across page frames for subtitle sync.
• <all_urls> host permission: To work on any website where videos play.

Data Retention

All data is stored locally in your browser. You can clear it at any time by removing the Extension or clearing browser data.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
